A couple of months back, a heart touching story of a young girl named Jyoti made headlines when she travelled a staggering 1200 kilometers from Delhi to her hometown in Bihar on a cycle with her father. Soon after this story came to light, the father- daughter duo was inundated by well-wishers and other citizens commending Jyoti’s resolve. In May, filmmaker Vinod Kapri, signed a contract with Jyoti’s father Mohan Paswan acquiring the rights to develop a film, web series or documentary on Jyoti’s story under the banner of Bhagirathi Films. However, a month a later Kapri finds himself in a dilemma with another production house, Shine Krishna announcing a project on the same story that will see Sanjay Mishra playing the role of Mohan Paswan.
Reacting to this news, Kapri took to social networking sites sharing video footage of Jyoti’s father signing the contract and stating that he had sold the rights of their story to Kapri. Talking to Vinod Kapri about the issue, the filmmaker tells us, “In May I had visited Mohan Paswan, and there we struck a deal for the rights of his story. Following this, a contract was signed, and an initial amount was also paid to Mohan, with an understanding that the remaining sum would be paid when the project went on floors. However, now I learn that another production house, Shine Krishna is producing a film on the same story with Sanjay Mishra.” When asked whether he spoke to Mohan Paswan about this new venture, Kapri continues, “I spoke to Mohan about this, and he claimed that he was unaware and that I was his only point of contact with the industry.”
Prod Kapri further about his course of action in the future, and he adds, “We will be sending a legal notice to Shine Krishna regarding the same. As for Mohan Paswan, my legal counsel will advise me whether we should send a legal notice to him as well. Especially since I was the first to acquire the rights to his story and we have documented evidence of the contract between Mohan and us.”
Actor Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely death has put the spotlight on existing nepotism in the film industry and how outsiders get fewer changes against the star kids. "If anyone is being harassed in the film industry, if any gang is not letting an artist work, the artist should approach MNS. Raj Thackeray's party will teach anyone practicing nepotism a tough lesson," he added.

Sadak 2 is the road to love.”

Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide on June 14 and the police is still investigating the reason behind this sudden decision. It was reported that Sushant Singh Rajput suffered from depression for the last six months and had stopped taking his medication. However, it is still unclear as to what was the actual trigger behind this step. Since there was no suicide note found at the scene, the police are required to investigate the matter thoroughly and have already started questioning his close friends and family from the industry along with his colleagues.
If the reports are to be believed, then director Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be called for questioning by the police in a couple of days. As reported earlier, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had offered four films to Sushant including Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram Leela. The two were quite fond of each other and Sushant was even offered to play the lead role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s television show, Saraswatichandra, opposite Jennifer Winget. However, the dates were an issue and hence things couldn’t materialize. The netizens are blaming Yash Raj Films for keeping Sushant occupied and not letting him work to his full potential.
The police are planning to call Sanjay Leela Bhansali in a few days for questioning. So far, Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant Singh Rajput’s family, Shanoo Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, Shekhar Kapur, Mukesh Chhabra, and Sanjana Sanghi have been questioned by the police.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee is one of the most celebrated actors in the country. His versatility is often spoken of, his long line of tremendous work has often been an inspiration for many. Coming from the background of theatre, the actor didn't get a great start in the business but struggled his way to the top.
In Humans Of Bombay post, the actor revealed his struggles from the National School Of Drama to becoming an actor and bagging Bandit Queen. He said, "I'm a farmer's son; I grew up in a village in Bihar with 5 siblings–we went to a hut school. We led a simple life, but whenever we went to the city, we'd go to the theatre. I was a Bachchan fan & wanted to be like him. At 9, I knew acting was my destiny. But I couldn't afford to dream and continued my studies."
He added, "Still, my mind refused to focus on anything else, so at 17, I left for DU. There, I did theatre but my family had no idea. Finally, I wrote a letter to dad - he wasn't angry and even sent me Rs 200 to cover my fees! People back home called me 'good for nothing' but I turned a blind eye."
The actor said that he contemplated suicide after being rejected thrice from the National School Of Drama. "I was an outsider, trying to fit in. So, I taught myself English and Hindi - Bhojpuri was a big part of how I spoke. I then applied to NSD but was rejected thrice. I was close to commit suicide, so my friends would sleep next to me and not leave me alone. They kept me going until I was accepted," the actor said.
"Initially, it was tough–I rented a chawl with 5 friends & looked for work, but got no roles. Once, an AD tore my photo & I've lost 3 projects in a day. I was even told to 'get out' after my 1st shot. I didn't fit the ideal 'hero' face–so they thought I'd never make it to the big screen. All the while, I struggled to make rent & at times even a vada pav was costly," he said.
"But the hunger in my stomach couldn't dissuade my hunger to succeed. After 4 years of struggle, I got a role in Mahesh Bhatt's TV series. I got Rs 1500 per episode–my first steady income. My work was noticed & I was offered my first Bollywood film & soon, I got my big break with 'Satya'," he added.
Satya was a game-changing movie for him that bagged him National Award. "That's when the awards rolled in. I bought my first house & knew…I was here to stay. 67 films later, here I am. That's the thing about dreams–when it comes to turning them into reality, the hardships don't matter. What matters is the belief of that 9-year-old Bihari boy & nothing else", he concluded.

The country went into lockdown starting March 25 owing to the increasing cases of coronavirus. Starting June 1, the government has started unlocking in a phase wise manner. By now, domestic travel, offices, markets, shopping complexes have been permitted to operate except for in containment zones.
However, there has been no respite for theatres and the Multiplex Association of India has reacted to the same. The theatres were shut down a week before the nationwide lockdown was announced. In their press release, they expressed how demotivating and disheartening the decision is. “Cinemas and Multiplexes can become an example of how social distancing guidelines and crowd control can be best exercised in a safe and planned manner. As compared to the unorganised retail and shops that have been opened up, multiplexes and cinema are part of the organised sector, playing hosts to ‘revenue paying’ customers only and hence, in a better position to limit crowds unlike marketplaces and deploy all the mechanisms and guidelines for crowd control and social distancing,” the release read.
“The multiplex industry in India employs more than 200,000 people directly. We are the backbone of the Indian Film Industry accounting nearly 60% of revenues of film business. The livelihoods of more than a million people – right from the spot boys to makeup artists, musicians, designers, technicians and engineers to cinema employees to directors and actors – hinges on the survival of Indian cinema. The lockdown has literally brought the entire industry to a standstill with losses mounting every passing day. An early decision to allow cinemas to open up will only help the mobilization of resources in the film industry’s ecosystem and would lead to gradual resurrection. In fact even after opening up, we anticipate atleast 3-6 months before things return anywhere close to normal. On one hand where programming of new content will take some time to kick in; movie buffs on the other hand are expected to take a cautious approach before returning to cinemas. These are real challenges that the industry will have to overcome and we believe together, with the support of the government, we will be able to overcome them,” it further read.
They also cited how major countries across the world have opened up cinemas to the public with the implementation of safety protocols. “MAI is of the firm belief that, there must be a start and the unlocking of cinemas in non-containment zones across India should be done post haste – there must be a beginning and an opportunity must be given to us, just like some of the other sectors,” they said.
After the announcement of Iti, Mandiraa Entertainment and Vivek Anand Oberoi’s Oberoi Mega Entertainment come together again for their second film, Rosie-The Saffron Chapter which is set to become India’s first horror-thriller based on true events. This film will also be helmed by Vishal Mishra, who is known for Coffee With D and more recently, Iti.
Based on true events that took place in Gurgaon, Rosie is planned as a horror-thriller franchise. The first part, Saffron Chapter is based in the Saffron BPO, considered as one of the most haunted places in Gurgaon. The story revolves around a girl called Rosie who was an employee in this BPO.
In the light of recent events and discussions around nepotism, the makers have also decided to launch a nation-wide hunt for a new face, that will star in a prominent role in the film. The details would be made available soon on official movie handles, @RosieIsComing along with the announcement of the lead cast.
Vivek Anand Oberoi, producer says, “With my new venture, I want to support the concept-driven films that I believe can change the movie landscape in their respective genres. And not just the film, but also make way for new talent. With Rosie, I hope to achieve both. It’s a franchise and with every sequel, we hope to introduce someone new in the industry.”
Prerna V Arora says, “I’m thoroughly excited with the concept of Rosie, and we want to develop this as our in-house franchise brand. We want to tell different and novel stories, especially based on true incidents. An idea or the talent can come from anywhere, and we want to be able to facilitate them through such films and such initiatives.“
Vishal Mishra, writer - director says, “In a country full of strange supernatural events, we have rarely seen any horror-thriller films based on true events. With Rosie, I hope to break those grounds without falling prey to any horror film cliches. I’m excited that this project, like Iti is backed by Vivek Anand Oberoi and Prerna V Arora, who share my vision on both films. Being an outsider myself, I can relate to the struggles or challenges that are posed in this industry. I’ve been lucky to get so much acceptance and support here, and I want to pass it onto those who are trying to make it here.”
Kussum, producer says, “Our intent will always be to pick the best stories & back the right content. The story of Rosie instantly connected with us & gave us the impetus to bring it to our audiences. We are very excited to go on floors with this one.”
Girish Johar, producer says, “Vishal always comes up with very novel ideas and unique concepts. Rosie, especially, is a hair-raising story. This is an in-house branded franchise, which we want to develop and explore. The minute I heard the story, along with producers Kussum & Reshabh, I was sure to back this up. This film is expected to redefine the horror genre in India and leave you wanting for more.”
The film is expected to go on floors by September 2020 and release shortly after. Rosie: The Saffron Chapter is presented by Mandiraa Entertainment and Oberoi Mega Entertainment, and produced by Vivek Anand Oberoi, Girish Johar, Kussum Arora, Reshabh D. Saraf, Keyur Pandya and Sanjeet S. Yerms.

Stop this mob-lynching at once! Just because Karan Johar is going through some rough times in the social media it doesn’t follow that the industry is turning its back on him. This is the impression that’s being created by self-motivated elements who derive great joy and pleasure in trying to bring Karan down.
So coming to the tweet, the worst kind of instant journalism being practised, that said Karan Johar’s had been eased out as a producer by Reliance Entertainment’s Rohit Shetty and Akshay Kumar on Sooryavanshi, the information is to put it simply, plain junk.
Says Shibasish Sarkar, CEO Reliance Entertainment, “It’s completely wrong information. Someone tweeted it yesterday. And that tweet spread like there was no tomorrow. We’ve clarified the matter a multiple number of times yesterday.”
While Akshay Kumar chose not to comment on the “non-issue” a source close to Akshay says, “To suggest that Karan Johar would be dropped from a project and his investments returned is plainly juvenile. Are we in kindergarten to behave this way?”

Sources say Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi will compete with Salman Khan’s Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai this Diwali. Even though the Maharashtra government has extended the lockdown by a month, Salman Khan who been quarantined with his family and friends on his farm in the outskirts of Mumbai, is likely to return to the city in the next few days.
Sources say he needs to supervise the post-production work of his forthcoming film Radhe: Your Most Bhai. The film is apparently being readied for a Diwali release. Confirms the film’s director Prabhu Dheva, “The shooting is almost complete. We just have a bit of shooting left. This we will take care of after the lockdown is called off in Mumbai. So yeah, in the meanwhile the post-production work will be on.”
When asked if Radhe will release for Diwali, Prabhu Dheva said, “I won’t be able to comment on that. It’s up to Salman and Arbaaz.”
The showbiz has come to standstill due to coronavirus pandemic. Productions have been halted. But, as many are getting back to their work life, Marvel Studios seems to be ready to resume work starting with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings starring Simu Liu.
As per Deadline, Marvel will kick-off their production at the end of July in Australia after the production was halted back in March 2020. The studio is being careful about the safety measures in order to keep the cast and crew safe.
hang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, a powerful martial artist. Tony Leung as Mandarin. Awkwafina and Ronny Chieng's roles are kept secret. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the Marvel project with the screenplay from David Callaham. Akshay Kumar is all geared up to begin work on his next film Bellbottom. And now the leading lady opposite him has been signed for the film. News is that actress Vaani Kapoor has been signed as Akshay Kumar’s leading lady in Bellbottom. She was last seen in the biggest blockbuster of 2019, War, along with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. Even though her role was a small one, Vaani’s role was the catalyst in the plot. As for Bellbottom, Vaani Kapoor will be seen playing the role of Akshay Kumar’s wife which will be a pivotal one.
The film is set in the 80s and it looks like the team is ready to kick-start the project. Vaani took to her Instagram to share a couple of pictures with Akshay Kumar as they looked absolutely dapper together. The caption reads, “Super Super Thrilled & Excited for this one !! Teaming up with the one & only @akshaykumar Sir Can't wait !!! #Bellbottom Let's get this started ❤️”
Producer Jackky Bhagnani says that the script made him choose a fresh pairing. “Vaani is an intelligent and effective actor and I have loved all her performances. The female lead in Bellbottom has to be in sync with Akshay Sir's screen persona. The role is meaty and I am confident that Vaani will ace this one.”
Sharing her excitement for the film, Vaani says, "I am excited to share the screen space with Akshay Sir. It is definitely a script I instantly clicked with and knew I wanted to be part of. I am also thrilled to partner with Pooja Entertainment who have already made me feel at home at this initial stage of our film. I’m eagerly waiting to start shooting Bellbottom."
Director Ranjit says, “Vaani’s character in the film is extremely intriguing. She has a certain flair and we’re all very excited to have her on board!”

After starring in Malang earlier this year, it was reported that Aditya Roy Kapur and Mohit Suri will team up for Ek Villain 2. The film stars John Abraham, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles. Since the film and TV productions have come to a standstill amid coronavirus pandemic, the shoot hasn't begun yet. But now, it's been learnt that Aditya will no more be part of the project.
Aditya Roy Kapur and Mohit Suri had creative differences and also cited date issues. There were discussions as well but Mohit eventually had to make a call and decided to replace Aditya. As per sources, John Abraham's role could have also been the reason for him to feel insecure. Mohit Suri is now on a lookout for the replacement in order to take his project forward.
Ek Villain 2 was supposed to go on the floor later this year and hit the screens on January 8, 2021. But, due to the lockdown, it may get postponed.
Akanksha Puri, who is seen playing a pivotal role in Vighnaharta Ganesh, has resumed shooting and has moved in to live on the sets temporarily. With the Coronavirus outbreak still being a massive threat, she feels that it’s the best decision for now. The channels have been permitted to resume shooting with a limited crew and timely sanitization of the set. Akanksha did not want to risk travelling back and forth and hence decided to shift for a few days.
The shoot takes place in Amgaon and Akanksha says its peaceful and safe out here. The staff is taking care of everything and they make sure to wear their PPE kits whenever they enter her room. With a crew of only 40 people present on the set Akanksha got a bunch of chocolates for everyone present and started the first day of work with sweets. She further said that staying back on the sets is safer than travelling from her residence in Malad. Her room has been specially renovated with a gym attached to it and she feels like she’s back home after three months. Even though she’s super excited, she says adjusting to heavy clothes and jewelry after such a long break may take a couple of days.
The television industry came to a standstill on March 19 for the first time in years due to the infamous Coronavirus outbreak. The actors have missed being on sets and needless to say, the channels and production houses have faced monetary losses during this break. Now, the industry has steadily, albeit slowly, started functioning and the shoots have resumed for a few days. Most of the shows are currently working on collecting a bank of episodes for the smooth telecast.
In a statement from the channel, Colors TV announced that the new episodes of shows like Choti Sarrdaarni, Naagin 4, and others will telecast from July 6. The fans have been eagerly waiting for new episodes and it looks like the wait is almost over. The guidelines are being followed thoroughly by the channel and the crew is required to wear protective gear at all times. Take a look at the announcement posted by the channel.

The Coronavirus outbreak has led us into the fourth month of complete lockdown and yet, the numbers are spiking with each passing day. Staff members of some Bollywood celebrities have also tested positive including Boney Kapoor. Only yesterday, Aamir Khan announced that his staff had tested positive for the virus, too.
The actor announced that all of them have quarantined themselves and the staff member is taken to a facility by the BMC. Aamir expressed his gratitude towards the BMC for their prompt action and cooperation. While the rest of his family tested negative for COVID-19, Aamir Khan awaited the test results of his mother. Now, the results of his mother’s test have come in and the actor heaved a huge sigh of relief as it was negative. In a statement, Aamir Khan wrote, “Hello everyone, I am most relieved to inform everyone that Ammi is Covid 19 negative. Thank you everyone for your prayers and good wishes ???? Love. Aamir”.
The actor, on the work front, will next be seen in Laal Singh Chaddha which is the official remake of Tom Hanks starrer Forrest Gump.
Actor Shekhar Suman recently visited late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's family in Patna. The actor even spoke to the press , a day after visiting the family. Addressing the press, Shekhar Suman said that there is more than what meets the eye in the suicide of the Bollywood star.
Suman, who recently launched a campaign ‘Justice For Sushant Forum’, was addressing a press conference at the residence of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. “I strongly believe that Sushant’s death is not an open and shut case of suicide,” he said. He also said that he has been following the investigation closely and pointed out at “missing links” like absence of a suicide note and facts like misplacement of a duplicate key to the house, and change of SIM card by the actor “50 times in a month”.
Talking about the nepotism allegations coming up, Suman said, “Besides Shah Rukh Khan and I, Sushant was the only one to have started off as a TV actor and achieved success on the big screen thereafter. A self-respecting man who did not believe in massaging egos of big shots, he must have become an eyesore for many.” He, however, refused to name anyone who might have caused trouble and said, "it would be wrong to do so unless I was armed with evidence. And this is precisely the reason I am pressing the demand for a CBI inquiry”.
